For almost as long as humans have been recording history, hemp has been a plant that we have cultivated and used in any number of beneficial ways. In fact, due to its hardiness, the fact that it can be easily cultivated in a variety of ecosystems, and its strong fibers, hemp has been used in all sorts of products throughout history. Some of these include: plastics, textiles of all kinds (including clothing), paper, and even as biodiesel fuel. Truly, the uses for hemp seem almost endless, and new ones are continuing to be discovered. In addition to all of the products that can be used in, hemp also has a significant amount of nutritional value and minimal side effects. It is, therefore, a wonderful and nutritional addition to almost anyone’s diet.
Hemp – Fact and Fiction
Hemp has been gaining increasing attention in recent years, particularly since the recent passage of the 2018 Farm Bill. That bill legalized all hemp-derived products containing .3% or less THC. While this has certainly increased interest in and availability of hemp products, it has also led to some understandable confusion about what hemp is – and what it isn’t. Particularly when considering hemp as a source of nutrition, it is important to have an understanding of the product you’re consuming. At Rejuvia, we are happy to provide this important information, so customers can make educated and informed choices about the products that are best for them.
When many think of the hemp plant, they typically think first of marijuana, which is also a variety of the cannabis plant. In fact, however, marijuana and hemp are quite different in many important ways. The marijuana variety of the cannabis plant contains large amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC as it is more commonly known. THC is the compound of marijuana that is primarily responsible for the feeling of being “high” that many users have when using it.
It is important to understand that, unlike marijuana, hemp plants that are used for nutritional sources do not contain high amounts of THC and therefore do not have psychoactive effects. In addition, many nutritional hemp products are made from the seeds of the plant, whereas marijuana is cultivated from its flowers. While both marijuana and hemp are useful, the hemp plant specifically has a number of beneficial compounds.
The Benefits of Hemp Seeds
The good news for those interested in adding hemp seeds to their diet is that they are truly packed full of healthy and beneficial nutrients. These include:
- Omega-3 fatty acids
- Beneficial fiber
- Heart-healthy ingredients
- And more: Hemp is also an excellent source of protein and minerals like potassium, magnesium, and folate, to name only a few.
Because of all of these beneficial ingredients, when consumed, hemp seeds can contribute significantly to good health. Some of the many health benefits of eating hemp seeds include lowering bad cholesterol, increasing proper digestive function, aiding with muscle recovery after strenuous physical activity, and more. Generally, adding hemp seeds to your regular nutritional routine provides an increase in overall feelings of wellness and vitality – something that everyone needs to feel and function at their best.
Hemp seeds have a pleasant tasting mild and nutty flavor and can be consumed on their own or used to produce a number of food products like hemp milk, hemp oil, hemp cheese, and hemp-based protein powders, to name only a few. Hemp seeds can be mixed into granola or cereal, sprinkled on a salad, or used in any number of ways that suit your preferences.
Understandably, however, many wonder: With all of these contributions to good health and a variety of hemp seed products available, do hemp seeds have any unwanted side effects? The good news is that any side effects of consuming hemp seeds are, for the most part, mild. As hemp seeds are high in fat, the sudden increase in fat if large amounts of hemp seeds are consumed may cause mild diarrhea. Those who have a sensitive digestive system may help to avoid this side effect by starting off with smaller amounts of hemp seeds per serving and gradually working their way up to the amount they want to take.
Other studies have also shown that hemp seeds can, in some cases, interact with anticoagulant medications, and in doing so, cause a higher risk of bleeding for those who have conditions for which anticoagulants are necessary. If you find yourself in this category, you should talk to your doctor prior to consuming significant amounts of hemp seeds to be certain that you can do so safely.
In addition to these side effects, some other side effects of consuming hemp seeds include the potential for mild nausea or digestive upset, dry throat, or a slightly lowered heart rate. These effects are usually mild, however, and can typically be remedied by adjusting the amount of hemp seeds that you consume and the time of day that you consume them. Doing so serves to diminish the side effects while continuing to ensure that you receive the many health benefits provided by hemp seeds that you desire.

Cannabidiol, or CBD for short, has been touted as somewhat of a wonder supplement over the last few years by those in the health and wellness community; many have heard very positive things about CBD and the amazing benefits it can provide. Even better, CBD is said to provide these benefits in a safe, natural, and non-addictive way. Many, understandably, ask the question: “Is CBD too good to be true?”
At Rejuvia, we are happy to be able to tell our customers and those interested in learning more about CBD generally that, yes – it is as wonderful as it sounds. Cannabidiol works naturally with the existing systems in the human body.
Though CBD is becoming increasingly popular, there are still, understandably, a number of questions surrounding the different terminology associated with various products and what particular products are the best fit to treat certain needs. At Rejuvia, one of these questions that we are asked quite often is: “What is the difference between CBD oil and water-soluble CBD?” Certainly, this is an important question and one for which we are happy to provide some clarification.
Why Water-Soluble CBD?
Often, when people think of CBD products, they may think of oil-based products like tinctures, creams, and balms. Certainly, these products are able to deliver wonderful benefits, and the oil-based form is the best method of preserving the beneficial properties of CBD for these particular options. One defining characteristic of each of those types of products is that they are not usually meant to be swallowed, however. Tinctures are typically placed under the tongue, while topical applications are applied directly to the skin. All of these products are beneficial, but some customers prefer a product that they can take quickly while on the go.
For these types of products (softgels and energy drinks, for example), the typical method of consumption is swallowing the product. When that is the case, using an oil-based CBD would hinder the bioavailability and delivery of many of the beneficial effects that customers are seeking. While bioavailability is somewhat of a complex word, its meaning is actually quite simple. Bioavailability refers to how much of a substance the body is able to absorb. The human body uses a process called first-pass metabolism. This essentially means that, after a substance is swallowed, it passes through our digestive tract. When this happens, the concentration of the substances is greatly reduced prior to reaching our bloodstream and circulating through the remainder of our body.
One effect of first-pass metabolism is that it ultimately causes a decrease in bioavailability – that is, a decrease in the total amount of the beneficial substance that we are able to absorb. As a result, if we want to consume CBD orally, we need to find a way to circumvent first-pass metabolism and ultimately increase bioavailability. Tinctures and topical applications are effective because the CBD does not pass through the digestive tract first. With products that are swallowed, however, water-soluble CBD is the ideal solution to the first-pass metabolism problem.
As our bodies are primarily composed of water, this makes some sense. To understand why, it can be helpful to imagine CBD as a big drop of oil that enters our stomach when we swallow it. It is generally known that oil and water do not mix well, and it is no different in our bodies. In an oil form, the CBD is too large to pass through the stomach lining by itself. When it is converted into a water-soluble powder by breaking the oil down into tiny nano-particles, our bodies are better able to absorb the CBD and receive more of the desired benefits.
One of the wonderful properties of water-soluble CBD powder is that it can be used in a wide variety of ways, including as an energy drink powder or softgels. Both energy drinks and softgels can be consumed easily. And if formulated with a high-quality, water-soluble CBD formula, can deliver beneficial effects quite quickly. Finding the right product and dosage for your needs can, of course, require a certain amount of trial and error – though it has been our experience that many of our customers quickly arrive at the product and dosage combination that is the best fit for their health needs and goals.

It goes without saying, however, that the benefit of any product is, in reality, directly related to the methods used to manufacture the product. That is why it is very important to select your water-soluble CBD products, or any other CBD products in which you may be interested, from a company that focuses on quality from the very beginning.
At Rejuvia, we focus on quality from seed to bottle, throughout the entire planting, harvesting, extraction, and purification process. We take pride in our products, and we believe that our customers deserve nothing less than a pure, safe, beneficial product every time. If you are interested in health and wellness – specifically, in improving your own health and wellness in a natural, safe, and non-addictive way – you may have recently heard a great deal about cannabidiol, or CBD for short. CBD has become increasingly popular all over the country in recent years, particularly since the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill that legalized all hemp and hemp-derived products containing less than .3% THC. It seems there are CBD products popping up everywhere – there are CBD-infused coffee and smoothies, personal care products, beer, gummies, and more. The product possibilities, in fact, seem almost endless.
Described as a “wonder supplement” by many, CBD has been shown to have many benefits; in fact, new benefits of using CBD seem to continually be discovered, and this is wonderful news. Understandably, though, those who want to add CBD to their daily health and wellness routines may still have questions about its use. This is understandable, as, despite its increasing popularity, CBD is still somewhat new to the market. As a result, questions are normal, and at Rejuvia, we believe that they should be answered.
A Common CBD Question
One common question that we regularly receive about CBD is this: “With all of the benefits that CBD offers, what about side effects?” This is an entirely reasonable question, as to some people, CBD seems almost too good to be true. The good news we have is that, in fact, CBD fortunately has very few side effects. Those that it does have are moderate and are typically remedied by adjusting the dosage or the time of day that CBD is consumed. Some of the mild side effects of CBD usage that have been reported include:
- Nausea: Nausea and mild gastrointestinal issues are one of the reported side effects of using CBD. This may include feelings of stomach cramping or upset. Often, these symptoms are caused by taking too large of a dosage of CBD at one time and can be remedied by adjusting dosage downward until you find an amount that works best with your body’s digestive system.
- Drowsiness: CBD is well known for promoting feelings of calm and relaxation. While this is wonderful, one side effect can, understandably, be drowsiness. Occasionally, this is bothersome to those who are taking CBD for other purposes. In these cases, we would suggest simply planning to take your CBD in the evening, if possible. Another option to remedy this side effect is to adjust the dosage until you find an amount that does not make you sleepy.
- Loss of appetite: This symptom is somewhat ironic, as CBD is often associated with marijuana, another product of the cannabis plant, which often causes increased feelings of hunger. This side effect is not extremely common and will usually pass with time. Taking CBD at a time other than meal times can be wise, however, just to ensure that you avoid this potential side effect at a time when you might otherwise be hungry.
All of these symptoms, as noted, are fairly mild. While they may be inconvenient at first, they are often quickly remedied by either adjusting the dosage of CBD that you take or the time of day that you take it. While determining the best time and dosage may involve a bit of trial and error, it has been our experience at Rejuvia that the majority of our customers quickly arrive at a dosage and daily routine that best fits their needs.
A Side Effect That You Won’t Experience ….
Having discussed many of the common side effects associated with CBD use, we also felt it important to take a moment to discuss one issue that is not a side effect of using CBD – despite many mistaken assumptions. As CBD is still fairly new to many communities across the country, some confusion still exists about what it is and what it isn’t. Many, understandably, confuse CBD with marijuana. This is not entirely unreasonable, as both CBD and marijuana are derived from varieties of the cannabis plant. In truth, however, CBD and marijuana are very different, and they function differently within the body.
Perhaps the primary difference, for the purpose of examining side effects, is understanding that marijuana has psychoactive properties while CBD does not. Marijuana contains large amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC for short. THC is the compound that is largely responsible for the feeling of being “high” that many users experience when taking marijuana. CBD, by contrast, if derived from the hemp variety of the cannabis plant, contains very low levels of THC, and has no psychoactive effects. In fact, to be federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill, all hemp and hemp-derived products, CBD included, must have .3% or less THC content.
Beyond having lower levels of THC naturally, many CBD providers, like Rejuvia, take extra steps to ensure that their products are entirely THC-free. This is made possible by using quality-controlled, high-tech purification and extraction processes. At Rejuvia, we also take the extra step of lab testing each of our products to ensure that they are pure, potent, and full of the beneficial compounds that you want while being free of any undesired compounds, like THC, that you don’t. As a result, customers can consume our CBD products with peace of mind in knowing that they will be receiving benefits without psychoactive side effects.

Those who have been using CBD regularly often find that it is an excellent addition to their daily routine, one that helps them feel better and approach each day with the focused, calm energy they desire. As a result, many who use CBD want to ensure that they can keep it as a part of their daily routine – whether at home or while traveling. This begs the question: Are there rules to remember about flying with CBD? While you can fly with CBD in some cases, there are certainly some important rules and guidelines to keep in mind.
Strict Standards for Safe Travels
We live in a very busy, very interconnected world. Many of us have work and social connections all over the country that require us to travel regularly. Others of us simply enjoy a nice vacation and a break from our regular routines. We want to see and enjoy a new place, full of new adventures. Whatever our reasons for traveling, many of us find ourselves needing to book a flight – and there are plenty of rules to remain aware of when flying.
While it may seem tedious to have to remember and follow all of the security rules associated with flying in today’s world, without question, those rules are there for our safety. The Transportation and Security Administration (TSA) has many procedures in place, designed to detect any possible threats to passengers on flights across the country and around the world each day. Knowing and following these procedures is important, not only for your own safety but to ensure that you are able to board your flight and reach your travel destination without delay.
Often, this can raise many questions, and sometimes the rules seem as if they are ever-changing, particularly when it comes to traveling with substances like CBD, which are still somewhat new to the market. To keep abreast with the changing times, TSA does update its rules often. As a result, it is always important and helpful to check the TSA website prior to flying in order to be sure of the most updated rules and restrictions. When it comes to CBD, however, there are some basic guidelines that we know so far.
CBD and Evolving Security Measures
Some of the rules with regard to flying with CBD have been confusing in their evolution, as in the past, TSA did not make any distinction between marijuana and some hemp-derived products. Despite the fact that recreational and medical marijuana is legal in some states, the TSA typically frowned upon any hemp-derived products that might contain even the smallest traces of THC.
The recent passage of the 2018 Farm Bill has changed that reality somewhat, as it made hemp and all hemp-derived products containing less than .3% THC federally legal. As a result, the TSA has now updated its “What Can I Bring” page to indicate that medical marijuana, as well as CBD products that contain .3% or less THC, can now be either checked or carried on. This is, of course, provided that other rules are followed. For example, the item cannot contain more than the standard 100ml liquid limit for a carry-on item. According to the TSA, this change was prompted by the recently FDA-approved drug, Epidiolex, which contains CBD oil and which is used to treat seizures in children with epilepsy – though it is certainly good news for all who use CBD.
Having said this, however, it is still worth noting that those who wish to bring CBD products on their flights should be quite certain about where their CBD products come from and what they contain. While hemp-derived CBD products containing less than .3% THC are federally legal, any CBD products that are derived from marijuana or that contain more than .3% THC are not. As a result, it is extremely important to be certain about your CBD products and to know whether they comply with these guidelines.
Certainly, to the naked eye, it is virtually impossible for airport officials to determine whether a CBD product was derived from hemp or marijuana. If that product is tested, however, and it is shown to be positive for higher than the federally-legal limit of THC, those found in possession could be arrested. Needless to say, this is something you want to avoid while flying and in general. As a result, it is very important to choose a CBD provider that can assure you, through third-party lab testing if possible, that their products are either THC-free or that they contain less than the legal federal limit. Doing so will ensure your peace of mind, and that you are able to fly freely to your intended destination.
